The bond found in table salt, NaCl, is ionic. An electron is transferred from Na, Sodium, to Cl, Chlorine. This makes the Na atom have a positive charge (Na+) and the Cl atom have a negative charge (Cl-). This difference in charge keeps them attracted because a positive charge and a negative charge attract.
