those are mixed number so first, convert them into improper fractions:

2 × 5 + 3 =13 thats
[tex] \frac{13}{2} [/tex]
1 × 2 + 4 = 6 thats
[tex] \frac{6}{1} [/tex]
now they need to have the same denominator and the LCD is 2 so: 6 ×2 = 12 and 1 ×2 = 2 thats
[tex] \frac{13}{2} - \frac{12}{2}[/tex]
[tex] = \frac{1}{2} [/tex]
