Answer: 0.75 or 3/4

Step-by-step explanation: Multiply the denominators of each fraction by the opposite fraction. 1 x 2 = 2      1 x 4 = 4   (1/4 x 2/2 = 2/8) (1/2 x 4/4 = 4/8)

Then add the new fractions together and keep the denominator : 2/8 + 4/8 = 6/8.

And finally reduce 6/8 which will result in 3/4.
