Problem:

It cost a boy $13.50 to take a girl out for the evening. Sixty percent of this was for the theater tickets. What was the cost of each ticket?

Solution:

60% of $13.50 is 0.6*13.50 = 8.10

Cut this figure in half to get 8.10/2 = 4.05

So the cost of each ticket was $4.05

Answer:

The cost of each ticket is $4.05.
